TETRICK AND TEAGUE TAKE HAMBLETONIAN OAKS WITH DANAE

Young driving dynamo Tim Tetrick and trainer George Teague Jr. teamed for yet another big payday in the $750,000 Hambletonian Oaks with Danae on Saturday afternoon at the Meadowlands.

Possess The Magic and Falls For You, the elimination winners, locked up in a duel along the backstretch, giving Pippiwhitestocking the chance to sweep past them.  That one looked to have the race won before she broke stride in mid-stretch, leaving Tetrick and Danae [$24.40, $10.40, $7.60] to pick up the pieces.

Resortful [$45.00, $19.00] closed from eighth at the top of the stretch to finish second, a length and a half behind the winner.  Sing Me To Sleep [$12.20] also made up a ton of ground, coming from ninth to finish third.

Tetrick and Teague already captured the $1 million Meadowlands Pace and Art Rooney with Southwind Lynx earlier this summer.

Danae picked an opportune time for her first win of the season as she took the sport’s premier event for three-year-old filly trotters.  Teague and his sister, Brenda, share ownership of the filly with Rodney Mitchell of Dover, Delaware.  The daughter of Andover Hall was a $15,000 yearling purchase at the Lexington Selected Sale.
