With the anticipation of icy road conditions, the Meadowlands has canceled its live harness racing card for Thursday, January 14.
The track will remain open for day and night simulcasting.
"Many of our horses are stabled at training centers in Central New Jersey, and the icy weather makes it difficult for the horsemen to ship," said Vice President and General Manager Chris McErlean. "We'll carry the card over, in its entirety, to next Thursday. We don't foresee any problem racing on Friday night, January 15."
Friday night's program features the first legs of the Complex and Cape & Cutter Series. First race post time is 7:30 p.m. Qualifying races, usually held on Friday mornings, have been rescheduled this week to Saturday morning at 10:30
This is the second cancellation of the year. The track previously canceled on Friday, January 8.
