BIG M CANCELS LIVE RACING

East Rutherford, N.J. (November 2, 1999) -- The Meadowlands Racetrack cancelled its live racing program prior to the first race on Tuesday night due to unsafe weather conditions. "In the interest of the safety of the riders and the horses it was best that we cancel racing," said Vice President and General Manager Chris McErlean. "Both the heavy rain and the high winds made for unsafe conditions." The facility remained open Tuesday night for simulcasting from other tracks. Live racing will resume at the Meadowlands on Wednesday night with a first race post time of 7:35 p.m.
