AMERICAN FIRE BLAZES HOME IN FIFTH RACE FEATURE
East Rutherford, N.J...American Fire sat close to the early pace then pounced on the tiring leaders to take the $24,000 fifth race maiden special on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands. American Fire, with jockey Dale Beckner up, took the six furlong event by three-quarters of a length in 1:12 and paid $8.00 to win. Caty's Quest held her ground for second and completed a $107.40 exacta. Danzig's Dreamer launched a late bid for third. Trained by Teresa Pompay, American Fire notched her first career victory for owner Patricia Generazio and upped her earnings to $14,460 from two starts.
