ELEVEN NORTH TAKES WISTFUL 'CAP AT THE BIG M
East Rutherford, N.J...Eleven North made all the running out of the gate and drew away by 10 lengths in the stretch to capture the featured $45,000 Wistful Handicap at the Meadowlands on Saturday night.
Owned and trained by Gerry Sleeter, Eleven North covered the mile over a fast main track in 1:36 1/5 and paid $3.20 as the odds-on favorite. Silent Serenade completed a $10.20 exacta and bested third place finisher Gaelic Bay by 3/4 of a length.
A six-year-old mare by Northern Idol, Eleven North now has lifetime earnings of $438,255 and nine victories in 19 tries at the Meadowlands alone.
The win was the second on the card for jockey Chuck C. Lopez who earlier in the evening captured the fourth race aboard Sass It Up ($73.40).
