ELEGANT APRIL TAKES THURSDAY NIGHT FEATURE AT THE BIG M
East Rutherford, N.J...Elegant April and jockey Joe Bravo angled out in mid-stretch to get up by a neck over Red Melody in the featured $30,000 optional claiming event at the Meadowlands on Thursday night.
 
Trained by Tim Kelly, Elegant April covered the five furlongs on a "good" turf course in :58 2/5 and paid $8. Red Melody completed a $70.20 exacta and bested third place finisher Atlanticcitydancer by a length.
 
The win was the second in six starts this year for the six-year-old mare by Sun War Dancer who now boasts lifetime earnings of $221,677 for owner Daniel J. Ljoka.
