How much does parking and admission cost?

General parking is free, valet parking is $5. 

General admission is FREE.  Gates Open at 11 am; Live Racing Post Time 7:15 pm (Hambletonian Day TBD)

FREE live racing program every Thursday night during live racing.

$2 live racing program every Friday & Saturday night.

How can I purchase videos and photographs of the races?

Videotapes may be purchased through the Guest Services by calling 201-460-4191.  Harness photos may be purchsed from Lisa Photo, LisaPhoto@PlayMeadowlands.com and Thoroughbred photos from Bill Denver of Equi-Photo at equiphoto@hotmail.com 

 

How long do I have to cash in a winning ticket?

A winning mutuel ticket is valid for six months.  A cash voucher is valid for three years.

What are the dimensions of the main track?

The main track is one mile with a homestretch of 990 feet.  The distance from the start/finish line to the first turn is 330 feet.  The width of the homestretch is 90 feet and the backstretch is 80 feet.

 

Who was the first horse to win a pari-mutuel race at the Meadowlands?

Quick Baron won the first pari-mutuel race on September 1, 1976.

When was the first $1 Million Meadowlands purse?

The Meadowlands Pace purse grew to $1 Million for the first time in 1980, the year Niatross won.

Who won the first Meadowlands Pace in 1977?

The 1977 Pace carried a purse of $425,000.  The winner was Bernard and Rosalind Mann's Escort, trained and driven by Carl LeCause.

When did the Hambletonian debut at the Meadowlands?

The world's most famous trotting event, the Hambletonian, which has had a number of different homes, debuted at the Meadowlands Racetrack on August 8, 1981.

Who won the first Hambletonian at the Meadowlands in 1981?

The 1981 Hambletonian winner was Shiaway St. Pat.  He was driven to victory by Ray Remmen.

What is the Meadowlands record for attendance?

The record is 52,975 set on June 11, 1982 on a night of a closed circuit broadcast of the Cooney-Holmes heavyweight championship fight.
