Picks: 1-2-5-4
H Horse Comment
1 I’M FABULOUS Thirty time winner has class, earning $135k last season. Has a Billings win, but hasn’t raced in 34 days. Still, a contender.
2 CURRENT CRISIS Has a pair of solid efforts here recently, including one with Krivelin in the bike. Trotter is always dangerous in this spot.
3 KEYSTONE SADIE Mare has made breaks in each of her last two starts. I don’t see enough in her recent form to rate her a player here.
4 NOWERLAND NATHAN Seems to have improved since when he was last seen here. Monticello win was very strong. Rates a look now.
5 WHATNBLAZES His form at the C-2 level here was OK. Those races are tougher than what he sees here. Worth a look despite 0 for 16.
6 RUSSELL THE MUSCLE Throw out that last race as he never had a chance. He wasn’t bad in Indiana either. Interesting at a price here.
7 NEARLY UNCLE Doesn’t win very often lately and his last couple of efforts are just marginal. Will need to find more in the longer stretch.
8 TAGMASTER Efforts have been a mixed bad. A little worried about the good race/bad race patter he has developed. Still worth including.
9 SAM’S HONEYBEE I never like to see a horse throw in the towel after leading from post 1 on a half-mile track. Not sold on chances here.
2 Second Race Entries

1 SHOW BIZ HALL Lone sibling took a mark of 1:56.2. Cost $32,000 at Lexington. Dam is a kin to the very fast Sweet Justice. Mornings solid.
1A GIFTED WAY Dam is a half-sister to the marvelous Hambletonian winner, Continental Victory. Brought a $170,000 sales price at Lexington. You have to love the progress he has been showing. Draws well and is one-third of a very formidable entry.
1B CANEPA HANOVER This is the half-brother to Hambletonian winner, Glidemaster ($1.9 Million). Cost $300,000 at Harrisburg. Clearly he jumps off the page and when coupled with Gifted Way, this entry looks like an overwhelming favorite in this spot.
2 ITSABOUTTIMEBABY Dam earned nearly $300,000. First foal. Cost only $5,000 at Lexington. Hobbles go on following three miscues.
3 SATURDAY KNIGHT First foal out of an unraced dam. From the family of My Starlet (340k) and My Starchip ($383k). Watching this start.
4 WHEELS AH SMOKIN Half-brother to Wheeling N Dealin ($841k). Dam earned $530k. Cost $155,000 at Harrisburg. It’s not charted, but he was forced 3-wide between calls. Gathered back to nearly last, then came again to win. Clearly, there is some talent here.
5 BOOTS N CHAINS All 3 siblings are winners, the fastest with a mark of 1:55.3. From the family of Big Apple Deli ($312k). Cost $75k at Lex.
6 MOUNTAIN TOP His dam was a nice race-mare, earning over $460k. First foal from the dam. You have to give credit to his 165-1 game third place finish in the New Jersey Sire Stakes Final. Let’s see if he can duplicate that performance here.
7 P MAC ATTACK Dam earned $228k, but fastest sibling has a mark of just 1:59.1. Homebred is from the family of Enny Youngman ($399k).
8 ALDEBARAN EAGLE A kin to a winner in 1:56.2. Dam is a kin to Ifhallscouldtalk ($331k). Cost $70,000 at Harrisburg. Solid last baby race.
3 Third Race Entries
Picks: 2-6-8-7
H Horse Comment
1 WINE N MCROSES Appears to be in very tough in this group. Only one start in this last 6 weeks as well. Longshot in this field.
2 BLIXTRA Enters this off a lifetime best effort. Has tried stakes company like several of these. Seems to be peaking at the right time.
3 HIGHLAND ROCKSTAR Another that tried Stakes events. She may have needed her last start, so improvement is possible. Including.
4 H-ANDHARLEYTHEJET Plainridge form did not transfer here. Substantial improvement will be required to compete with this group.
5 EASTER SURPRIZE Recent form has been quite good, but she does have 7 runner-up finishes with just 1 win. Will use her accordingly.
6 ROCKINGCAM PARK I believe she is the best of these, but the price should indicate that as well. Exiting a very strong race as well.
7 KATE CAN’T WAIT She has been racing well, but is facing a stronger group than she has faced before. Note the barn change here.
8 TEMPTATION HANOVER If Miller has her figured out, she is very interesting. Was a bet-back, but the post is tricky. Still, must include.
4 Fourth Race Entries
Picks: 7-5-1-6
H Horse Comment
1 HOT START A kin to three 6-figure earners, including Blomkvist (1:53.4). $52,000 Lexington Select yearling disappointed last time as an overwhelming favorite, but her debut was strong. Looms a contender in this group.
2 JOLENE JOLENE Dam earned over $140k. No winning siblings to report. Dam is a kin to Tall Cotton ($563k – 1:51.4). Solid mile last out.
3 SOUTHWIND CARTIER First foal from an unraced dam. Best performer in recent pedigree is Celtic Merchant ($301k). Has run into a buzz-saw the last pair of starts in Mission Brief. This is class relief on paper, but the field actually came up very strong.
4 DEMONS N DIAMONDS Dam is a half-sister to Whitewater Rapids ($239k). She cost just $20k at Lexington. Was chasing a runaway winner in the NJSS Final who was 13 clear of the field on the wire. Expecting a better result here.
5 ARMATRADING Half-brother to Banco Solo ($207k). Has shown some quality in his morning efforts, but will watch homebred’s debut.
6 SARCY Dam was an excellent racemare, earning $733k. Toss out the broken equipment line. Prior efforts were very strong. $37,000 Lexington-select yearling fits well with this group. One of several win contenders.
7 LOCK DOWN LINDY Not much to report in her immediate family with no winning siblings and an unraced dam. However, her dam is a kin to Majestic Son ($1.7 Million). $40,000 Lexington-Select yearling looked good at Vernon and awesome in her last baby race.
8 BLUE MUSE First foal out of a dam that earned $156k, who is also a kin to 2 6-figure earners. $20k Lexington yearling. Another victim of the fleet of foot Mission Brief. Have to figure this barn will improve this filly in her second start.
9 RULES OF THE ROAD Has one winning sibling of two starters with a mark of 1:59.2. Biggest name in recent pedigree is Water Star who earned $209k. Good to see that she stayed trotting in the Sire Stakes Final.
5 Fifth Race Entries
Picks: 6-8-3-11
H Horse Comment
1 E L ROCK Interesting in this spot. Not sure if he can win, but drew inside and may be able to sneak into the exotics for a share here.
2 CHARMING DREAM Gets another class drop to the lowest level. Has taken money in each of his last couple of starts. Mixed feelings now.
3 BROADWAY ROCKS Has been much sharper since dropping to this level. Still, has burnt cash in his last pair. Skeptical on the win side.
4 J R JAZZ He was no less than 50-1 in any of his Flower Child efforts. This is tougher than his last pair at Tioga. Leaning elsewhere for win.
5 DASH FOR THE CASH Now 0 for 19 on the year. Exiting a pretty fast mile. Winless record scares me off the win end. Will include though.
6 DREAMS OF THUNDER Note the barn change here. Enters this off a 4 week layoff. Svanstedt got familiar with him too. My top selection.
7 NEWSBOY MORIARTY He has yet to prove that 28-1 win was not an aberration. Just 2 for his last 41 as well. Looking another way here.
8 RAY HALL I believe his best makes him the horse to beat. Has a class edge. If Dreams Of Thunder doesn’t fire, this is my alternate choice.
9 UPFRONTSRIKESGOLD Chased after a well-meant winner last time. Will need to show some speed from this draw. Clearly fits in here.
10 JERSEY BOY Not a bad effort on the class drop last time. My concern is his lack of speed tied into the wide draw. Bottom of exotics, only.
11 B L CLASS ACT He is a tough read in here. Won impressively at Tioga, but this will be tougher. Big driver change here. Looms a player.
6 Sixth Race Entries
Picks: 2-7-6-3
H Horse Comment
1 ROSSINI He jumped up with a win to kick off his season. But since then he has tailed off. This field came up rather tough as well. Not sold.
2 SWEET JUSTICE Had a feeling he was sitting on a big effort last week. Faces another tough group, but he is sharpening up. Contender.
3 QUICK DEAL When last seen here, Ake went right down the road to a lifetime mark. Same tactics expect again. Looms a logical player.
4 MASTER OF LAW This gelding can motor. But, will he stay trotting? He will take some money off that qualifier, but is a risky contender.
5 SLIP INTO GLIDE Leading 2014 money earner in the field has been racing well in Canada. Off three weeks, but still must be considered.
6 SPIDER BLUE CHIP Broke for no reason last time. Came back and qualified well. Remember, this is a Breeders Crown winner. Tricky call.
7 ROYALTY FOR LIFE Toss out his last, as he was taken out of the race. Expect him to send and be a prominent player from the start.
7 Seventh Race Entries
Picks: 2-6-1-3
H Horse Comment
1 DELIGHTFUL DRAGON Took some support last time, but got away slow and was never involved. Will stay closer from here. Improves.
2 CLEAR VIEW HANOVER Very clear that this mare is moving in the right direction. Wont offer 24-1 now but is still a prime contender.
3 CAROLSIDEAL She hasn’t been as effective at this tougher level, but it still racing well. Joins a long list of win contenders given her form.
4 KEEPERS DESTINY Never got into the race when last seen here and is just 1 for 19 this year. Her best puts her in exotics play at a price.
5 SPRINGFORTH Has been racing at the top level at Harrington. But I will tale the same approach with her as others and watch her first race.
6 MACHAROUNDTHECLOCK She is exiting a rather strong race for this. Her speed will be prominent here. Expecting a solid performance.
7 MOJARRA HANOVER When she slips into a C-2 event, she is very tough. Now moves back up off the win and this will be much tougher.
8 SYNERGY SEELSTER Exits the same race as ‘Mach and was a bit stronger in that spot. She was 97-1 in there though. Mixed feelings.
9 ARIA J Mare caught a field she could beat and she did. Now, she moves back up the ladder into this tougher spot. Not sold on chances.
10 SIR JILLIAN Z TAM Mixed bag of efforts at Yonkers. Last mile was a toss-out. That said, I don’t see the speed necessary from this draw.
8 Eigth Race Entries
Picks: 4-2-7-9
H Horse Comment
1 LOLA DE VIE Broke through with a sharp win. Now back to the level where she finished 7th at 37-1. She may be better now. Tough field.
2 UPFRONT BILLY Earns a class drop that should spur some improvement. Owns plenty of back class. Anticipating a much better effort.
3 SOAPY SAP Wired the equivalent of a C-2 type field at Philly last time out. This will be much tougher. Mare is in rather tough this time.
4 HILLUSTRIOUS Continues on The Road to the Hambletonian using the overnight route. Colt is very sharp now and looms a key contender.
5 PROVE UP All or nothing type just couldn’t get involved last time. Moves inside, which will keep him closer. Still think this is a tough task.
6 MY LEAP OF FAITH Was only 6-1 last time off some solid efforts. Never saw the pylons last week, so he may have an excuse. Improves.
7 WORLD CUP Over the winter, he would have won this race by a pole. Times have gotten tough. Needs to turn it around. Driver change.
8 DNIEPER This gelding has now pulled off back to back upsets. Moves into a much tougher C-1 field. A three-peat would surprise me now.
9 CROSBYS CLAM BAKE Defeated a much softer group last time and gets a stern test for class here. Note his previous try at this level.
10 NITRO NITTANY Filly may be gearing up for The Oaks elims next week. Tough draw off a 3 week layoff. I am going to watch this time.
9 Ninth Race Entries
Picks: 1-4-3-8
H Horse Comment
1 SCREAM AND SHOUT Filly clogged the outer flow while first over last week. Into a softer spot and she is a candidate to improve here.
2 EXQUISITE GLIDE Barn change since arriving from the Midwest. Enters a strong qualifier where she finished very strongly. Tossing in.
3 STEPHANA DREAM Lightly raced filly has shown potential. Still, she will have to trot much faster than she ever has to contend. Maybe.
4 DEJATIERO Speaking of lightly raced, brother to Dejarmbro is making just his third start. Has some talent and looms a contender here.
5 HERROYALHIGHNESS Exits a strong raced where she raced better. Another step forward puts her right on the wire. Interesting player.
6 AMOR DEO Winless in 18 starts which makes him a tough sell in the top spot. Mare would need to take a major step forward to win this.
7 JJ ALEX He was OK last time, but he could have been better. Expect him to show speed this time around. Looms as a pace factor at least.
8 DETOUR HANOVER He might be the fastest horse in the race, but it is hard to trust him. That said, I wouldn’t be shocked if he wired these.
9 SILVERHILL VOLO Seems to have tailed off since the sick scratch which is a concern. I’ll want to see an improved effort before playing.
10 SORRENTO HALL Excellent in qualifiers, but cannot stay trotting in his pari-mutuel events. Tied into post 10, I want to see him stay flat.
10 Tenth Race Entries
Picks: 4-2-9-5
H Horse Comment
1 MR PAIGE Has been struggling at the lower levels at Tioga. That doesn’t bode well for his move to The Meadowlands. Inclined to watch.
2 VIDA DE VIE Exiting a stronger race than this. That said, he burnt some cash previously at this level as well. Will try to beat her on top.
3 MR FENWICK When last seen here, it was at this level and he was a dull 7th at 25-1. He hasn’t been lighting it up since and is a longshot.
4 TIME TO QUIT He’s been facing better than these all season long. Note, he was trotting in 1:53 here earlier. Strictly the one to beat here.
5 BEAU JOE Has burnt some cash in his last couple of starts, granted he got to the half in 54.1 last week and nearly held on. Contender.
6 CATHY’S PRINCESS Dropped to the bottom condition at Pocono and romped. She should fit well in this spot, but this will be tougher.
7 HELIOS I am at the point where I will let him beat me, because he can’t be trusted to stay trotting. I will take a stand against in this spot.
8 PITTSTOP RUTHIE Making her second start back off the qualifier. See how Soapy Sap fared earlier in the card. Will have to trot faster.
9 J CS JAKE Continues to race very well. Will have to come from post position 9 without much speed, which is tricky. Still, must be included.
10 CARNEGIE Was not a factor last time, which came at this level at 42-1. Now draws post 10 and will have a lot of ground to make up.
11 CELTIC MERCHANT Defeated a softer group at Pocono last time. Not thrilled with the second tier starting slot here. Might use sparingly.
11 Eleventh Race Entries
Picks: 2-5-1A-3
H Horse Comment
1 MA CHERE HALL Recently added trotting hobbles and it appears to have helped. Might be ready to take a step forward. Exotics contender.
1A MISTERY WOMAN She had to need that start and it was against a very good field. Second time Lasix, against just mares. Things to like.
2 HANDOVER BELLE She was just left with too much to do last time. Draws in the middle of a short field and will be dangerous with a trip.
3 ROCKIN WITH DEWEY Canadian based mare seemingly never puts forth a bad effort. She has been holding her own against the best.
4 NF HAPPENSTANCE Mare has been facing the boys all year and doing well. She has speed, but has always been better on smaller tracks.
5 PERFECT ALLIANCE Tough call here. She is either tailing off after a great winter, or needed that race. Her best wins this race. Tricky read.
12 Twelfth Race Entries
Picks: 1-8-5-4
H Horse Comment
1 NUNKERI Half-brother to Neal ($279k). Cost just $13k at Lexington which is already a steal. Sharp win in NYSS action at Tioga. Player.
1A WAITING ROOM Dam was a 6-figure earner. Just the 2nd foal. $52,000 sales price exceeds immediate pedigree. Must pick it up from here.
2 MAGGIES BED A kin to Colin Power ($171k). From the family of Me Maggie ($743k). Will need to improve off her baby races to contend.
3 JANE EYRE Family of Rebel Strike ($168k). Homebred has been Ok so far in the mornings but will need to step up her game to win this.
4 LADY CLARABELLA A kin to a 1:58.2 winner. Homebred improved with the addition of trotting hobbles. Still need to see her step it up.
5 JOSIE’S JOY Dam earned $641k on the track. She is a ¾-sister to Smilin Eli ($740k). Troubled to see her break stride upon debut. Tricky.
6 WOMAN OF CHARACTER A kin to Pilgrims Chuckie ($529k). Has made breaks in her last two starts, even with trotting hobbles. Not sold.
7 LITTLE MORE HONEY Second foal out of a dam who’s first foal has won $166k. Stuck in post 10 in both starts so far. Owns some upside.
8 CRAZY BEAUTIFUL First foal out of a dam that earned $167k. Family of World Class Image ($242k). Loved her last baby race. Contender.
13 Thirteenth Race Entries
Picks: 4-6-10-5
H Horse Comment
1 CAPTAIN PRIMEAU Just 1 for 17 on the year. His last was a little better, but he will need to step it up to break through and win. Tricky.
2 MAGGLIO He hasn’t done the best work up at Tioga. Interesting to see Svanstedt get in the bike now. Has done well here before. Maybe.
3 GASLIGHT Broke through with a win against what was a fairly weak group two starts back. Then was 70-1 last time. Not sold on chances.
4 THE NORTHERN DUDE Making his second start back off the brief layoff. That was a solid effort. Can easily see him stepping up here.
5 KEYSTONE WYATT That last start was against a better group than this. I expect him to fare better than his last start. Looms a contender.
6 BOSSY VOLO Exits a stronger race for this. Draws midpack, which will give Callahan some options. Sharp win two starts back. Player.
7 FOX VALLEY LEGEND I would have liked to have seen a better effort last time. That said, if he can work out a trip, he can rally for a share.
8 CASHAHALLIC An even try last time. His effort on the 23rd would put him in contention. I might use him a bit underneath, but not on top.
9 SPECIAL COMMAND Just a series of even tries leading up to this. Tough draw here and will likely have a lot left to do. Not sold here.
10 MCKENZIE’S STAR Beaten favorite last time, but he raced well. If you toss out his effort 2 starts back his form looks very sharp for this.
11 BLUTO His season has been disappointing. Dropping in class and the addition of Lasix has not helped. A hard sell for me at this point.
