1 HOT SUMMER KNIGHT Basically "inherited" the win last week, but was trotting up a storm late. Different situation here from the rail, and I think he'll be rolling much earlier. Hails from hot barn of Big Dee's Tack Trainer of the Week! Trainer: Came out of last race good.
2 DANISH DURANGO Rolled into another break behind the gate last time to make me wonder what's going on? This veteran was never a chronic breaker, so I'd be very hesitant to bet if price were short again. Big time risk! Trainer: Don't know what happened last week, but trained good on Wednesday. Looks to be in a good spot.
3 TROPICAL STORM BI Beat these last month, given a "miracle" driver by Tony. Was simply sitting in and saving ground when he got very lucky and burst home with room. Hasn't been quite as effective since, but returns. Danger.
4 SANTINI Would be very tough to play after watching that first one here. Needs total turnaround. A longshot.
5 URIEL Gets some much needed post relief, and a completely different pace scenario tonight. Simply put, the lead is his, if she wants to fire out. Have to feel that will be the plan. Might not be easy to catch tonight. Your call?
6 PARTY ON THE RIVER Yes, we all saw what happened last time. Get over it! One thing was for sure, horse was MUCH better and back to his "A" game. Might face a little pressure from #5 if he leaves. What will strategy be tonight?
7 GOLD MEDAL SWAN Loomed boldly last week, but wasn't quite able to finish it off. Stuck with an outside post now, so that will definitely change his tactics. Hoping for a little "mayhem" to set things up for a closer. A big 'ol maybe.
8 TROUBLE RIEU N After that nice couple of starts a while back, he seems to have tailed off. Gets worst post and I would need to see a big one again before I could bet.

1 MONTALBANO BI Turned in one of the best miles of his career last week! And we'll give full credit for the picture perfect drive too! Gets the rail now, against a very salty bunch, but he IS sharp, and will show speed again. Trainer: Has been racing good and gets the inside again.
2 SCIROCCO JAKOB This guy is razor sharp right now too! He does lose Marcus tonight, however. I can understand that decision. However, for betting purposes tonight, I might actually prefer this guy. Will the price be better?
3 IRON MINE JOHNNY Just a hair flat last week, so it does make me wonder if his good run of races might be ending. It might take a class drop, instead of a hike like this to wake Johnny back up. I'm willing to wait for that.
4 ZOOMING Was racing against some vicious fields when last seen here. Returns after a good roll at Yonkers. Probably just to avoid having to race in the Open over there. I get it! This IS the right spot for him here. Can leave, or be patient.
5 FASHION CREDITOR Second off the layoff tonight, and this barn scored with a pacer in similar fashion last week. (Griffon Hanover) Marcus stays loyal, opting over #2. They will probably win a LOT of races this year. Hard to ignore.
6 P L ICABOD Hasn't had much luck lately, be it racing luck, or post draws. I think this might be one notch too high for him anyway. At mercy of both pace and trip from this spot. Might not work out too well.
7 SHADY MCCOY I guess we all missed the boat on McCoy last week, and to be honest, I still couldn't play him! If I thought that level was too high for him, then I feel this will be impossible. Post hurts too!
3 Third Race Entries

1 BIG HERO Debuts tonight off a fairly good qualifier for a first-time starter. I don't see any "killers" in here, so I probably wouldn't talk you off him, especially with Carlson aboard. Should offer some fair value, and speed.
2 CASINO KING DEO Colt with a big-time pedigree only started once at two and it didn't go too well. Comes back with only one qualifier, which surprises me. I would like to see another. Also loses Matt, who was injured Tuesday at YR.
3 ALDEBARAN EUREKA Went a little bit better last time, so let's see if that improving pattern continues. It's taken this guy a long time to come around, but I will acknowledge that he's getting there. I want to see just a little bit more.
4 SAKE Didn't show much in first go for new barn. Also added Lasix. Fact that he shows up here tells me he might "need" the mile track. Showed enough in Ohio to warrant an extra look tonight. Let's see if he gets bet too!
5 PRESIDENT ZETTE I figured he'd be favored last time and that's why I went against. I will do the same here, especially if the price is short. Would need a few things to set up "just right' for him to win it. Congrats, if he does.
6 SEVEN ROSES Had one try here and it wasn't all that impressive. Rolled into nice form up at the Spa, so why not take another shot here? Will need a different kind of trip. I'd sure like to see that speed again. Might get him a journey.
7 LAW OF ATTRACTION New barn took over and gelding raced well at Yonkers from a tough post. That shows promise! Also figures to flash some speed if primed and ready tonight. No reason not to like with Jimmy.
8 MASTER OF THE HILL Yes, we all saw him romp last week at 36-1. One thing I can guarantee is that he WILL leave again. It might be a little tougher to get to the top, but if he's that good again. he is the one to beat. Your call?
4 Fourth Race Entries
Picks: 2-4-9-1
H Horse Comment
1 BULLVILLESTEPHANIE Down from Monti for Steve C, after a tough run of bad posts. Barn has been known to sneak one in here at times, so maybe this mare will surprise us and stay close. Gets A Nap is the seat. Attractive price.
2 GIRLLOOKATTHATBODY Raced pretty well at this level two back, so let's expect that kind of effort again. With a couple of the favorites way outside, I would prefer this one's chance at a good trip. Barn on quite a roll right now.
3 LOVE FORBIDDEN Didn't show much at 56-1 in debut here. Would be hard to make a strong case for now.
4 PURITY Returns to the level where she's most dangerous. Does lose Andy to #9, but I expected that. Her top effort is good enough, but she doesn't always deliver it. It's your call on what price to expect. It probably won't be big. Trainer: Trained good.
5 PIRAEUS Took a couple weeks off after being buried in against tougher. I can't really say that I loved her qualifier, as she just basically went around there. Gets let into the race on lifetime earnings, so that could be a key. Dangerous.
6 MOJARRA HANOVER Has worked her way back down the bottom, which usually springs a wakeup call. However, it sure didn't look that way last week. Would need a whole lot more than that. Plus, the right kind of trip, hot pace.
7 QUEEN KENDALL Well-traveled of late, that's for sure. That's a LOT of miles on the road between The Meadows, Freehold, Rosecroft and now here. She did win nine times last year, so respect for that. Let's see if she's a fit.
8 MYLITTLESURFERGIRL On the comeback trail off a short layoff. Hasn't shown a lot yet. Have to wait for a sign.
9 SAGE N Gets the nod as favorite, with the drop back down. That was pretty sharp effort when she won last month. I know it won't be easy to overcome this post, but Andy opted for her over #4. Expect some speed, folks! Trainer: Should be good despite another bad post.
10 HIPNUMBERONE Had she drawn a better post, I'd probably tell you she's a "must use!" However, early speed doesn't appear to be her best weapon. It'll be up to Eric to get her into the game somehow. Won't be that easy.
5 Fifth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 MR LOVER Got pretty close last time, which is an overachieving effort for this guy. It was a nice trip, however. Can't always bank on that kind of luck, but he does have the rail. Sits in, saves ground, tries to get lucky late?
2 VIC'S ROYAL LADY Figured to be a little bit short in that comebacker down here. Took a lot of tote action too! I suspect she will be tighter tonight, but this field is a LOT better than that last one. Must deal with some droppers now.
3 UGLY STIK Raced well up north all of last year and was freshened up. I liked the qualifier, even if it was rather slow. I do suspect he's going to need a race or two before we see best. I'm willing to wait.
4 STEED This has got to be the spot they were waiting for, right? Had a couple of comebackers against better fields. Gets a nice, cozy post on the drop. Third start back is often the best one. Will give "The Woman" a real tussle here.
5 WILDFLOWER Hasn't gotten lucky in a while, but she remains capable. One of the possible droppers and poppers in here, but I wonder if she's as good as #4,9? Always needs that right kind of cover trip. Gets the right post for it. Trainer: I thought was a little empty late last start. Ran a blood test on her and fixed a few things. Drops in class, will be better!
6 ROCKIN REDFORD Also taking the slight dip in class here, but he hasn't been as sharp lately. I guess I'd be surprised if he jumped up and beat the favorites. I have been wrong before, however.
7 SEVENTEEN TABS Almost got lucky last week, when given a perfect trip by Gingras. Different situation here, and a MUCH tougher field and post. Still a longshot, in my opinion. Would need even more than he shows.
8 COMMENTARY Now 0-7 so far this year, and I'm still not convinced he's a mile track horse. I don't like the post, or potential for trip in here. I'm probably going against for tonight.
9 WAITING ON A WOMAN The key to the race! 10YO has worked his way down the class ladder, and he's had respectable efforts against a lot better. Is meeting a few "live ones" in here. Will need his "A" game to win it.
6 Sixth Race Entries

1 SUNDAY AFTERNOON Just missed in that mad scramble with about seven horses across the track last week. Still, it was a positive effort, and now you get a betting partner too! Drew well and should stalk in an okay spot. Your call? Trainer: Had a good week, along with her partner here.
1A WINDSUN BROOKLYN Freshened up a couple of months. This mare has gone some solid miles over this track before, so keep that in mind. She's also back with added Lasix. Had two okay qualifiers. Is she ready? Wish I knew.
2 CLASSY CHRIS Figured to "need" that start last week, but it's never good when you make a break. With that said, tonight's goal is just to keep her onstride. Not fully primed and ready yet.
3 BRUNHILDA A little bit erratic, so that's an issue for me. I will note that she got completely locked in last week, so let's not hold that against her. Figures to offer that mid-range price again. Not without a chance, folks. Trainer: Got into road trouble last start. Hoping for better luck this week, and also trained good.
4 MACHING ME ZILLY Had the tough trip last week, grinding first over and she never gave in! That showed me something, and she is now fully raced back into shape. One of the many possibilities in this wide open race.
5 ROCKIN PRALINE The whole world saw her get "locked in" last week too! So, don't expect much of a price this time. If anything, she will probably be overbet. And, I'm not sure I want 6-5 on anybody in a race like this. Your call?
6 QUEEN ELSA Looks like the longshot in here, coming off the scratch. I will pass for now.
7 JULIO'S GIRL Sailed along at a good clip last week and ran out of gas late. Okay. When she won, she had that perfect pocket trip. Expect Carlson to send early and then try for that stalking kind of trip again. We'll see if it goes that way.
8 THE GIRLS OF IMAGE Ordinarily, you would think this is a nice spot for second start off the layoff. BUT, it is not! And I don't think she's fully cranked and ready yet anyway. I'll watch one from the outside post.
7 Seventh Race Entries
Picks: 1-2-8-3
H Horse Comment
1 CHILLIN IT DE VIE Chased a solid mare in a very good qualifier. Did it willingly too! Can she possibly be fully cranked and ready off just one qualifier? I usually lean towards no, but ya never know. Drew good post too! Guns?
1A FAMILY ROLL CALL Didn't really belong in that tougher race last week, so don't hold that against her. This is a much more reasonable spot and she drew ideal midpack post. Don't be shocked if she wakes back up bigtime. Trainer: An honest mare that feels ready.
2 MADE OF JEWELS AS Here's another possible "live" player in here. She's faced much better in the past. This is the drop they've been waiting for, and she gets an inside post, plus A Nap. Very dangerous barn when they ship here.
3 KNOW IT ALL Fourth straight class drop for this mare, so it's getting to be wakeup call time. She had NO chance in against Monica last week, but that will serve as an acclimating mile. Should be better. One of many possibilities.
4 PETAL TO THE METAL That was some rally uncorked last week. A true sweep of the field. Congrats for that, but now I feel she's in too tough with these. But, if we get some mayhem up front, anything is possible. Loves to finish. Trainer: Trained great this week. Moves up in class, but does get post position relief.
5 FINA PATINA In this field of droppers, she's hiking up. Simply put, that's not going to work. Pass for now.
6 CHEYENNE TRIENGEL BIG mile last week! Overcame a tough trip with some guts and grit. Simply dug in and wanted to win more. But, like #5, she's up in class here and still stuck with a rough post. Not sure she's this good.
7 PHYLLIS JEAN Won like a "good thing" two back, and then had a tough trip on the hike back up in class. This spot is no picnic either! Also losing that inside post advantage. Demand a fair price on Phyllis if you fancy.
8 DELIGHTFUL DRAGON A big welcome back to Andy McCarthy in the sulky seat! He's got a prime time drive here, with classy mare on the drop in class, but it will test his skills to overcome this post. It's no easy spot, folks!
8 Eigth Race Entries

1 QUEENS LONELY EARL Note he's in for the tag here, so that's why eligible. Only one qualifier off the layoff and it wasn't even here. I'm guessing that he's not fully ready yet, so I'm willing to watch one.
2 CAULFIELD Just can't get lucky and win one of these! Burned a LOT of money again when pounded at the betting windows. At least he gets a break at the post draw tonight. That alone will improve chances. Hikes up, though. Trainer: Is a real nice horse, and should be okay in here with the inside.
3 IT REALLY MATTERS Tough to get a real read on his form right now. Is actually eligible for the lower condition, so I don't feel this is the right spot. I will pass tonight and wait for the right spot next time.
4 STITCH IN TIME One of THREE winners for our "Trainer of the Week" Mr. Buter. Horse basically stole one too! With that said, this is the hike back UP in class and he won't likely be setting the pace in here. Needs a good trip.
5 ROUNDTOWN ROCKER Raced okay for his new barn last time. That was solid bunch too! Gets the much needed post relief and there's plenty of speed to set up his rally. Easily the one to beat at this level. Not much price, though.
6 MY LUCKY WORD Over from Yonkers where she looked a little overmatched. I probably need to see one here first, but I will note she did well on 7/8 up at Vernon last year. A big maybe. But, might also need a softer class.
7 A JERSEY CONTRACT Doesn't win all that often, but sometimes sneaks into the gimmicks. Still a longshot.
8 FIJI Here's the speed and we all expect Eric A to send him out of there again. If left alone up front, he tends to get brave. Let's see how the trip goes and how hard he gets used early. That's the difference.
9 CAN DO Usually, this is the right spot for his return to form, but it'll be a long journey if he tries to fire out into #8. A Nap gets along with this fella, though. At the right price, he should be included on your tickets.
10 SWEET JUSTICE Regressed into a little bit of a miscue last time when forced up to this level. Post 10 now. I'll pass.
9 Ninth Race Entries
Picks: 5-1-6-4

1 BETTOR N BETTER Sneaks over from Yonkers on the solid class drop with post relief too! That often adds up to watch out! It's not an easy spot, with half the field dropping, but she will go better here. Andy's choice over #3. Trainer: Takes a drop in class. The inside post gives her a shot.
2 BLUSH HANOVER Never really got into the fray last time, so let's just toss that race out. This is back to an inside post where Brett can be patient and put her in the flow. If the trip is smooth, she always has big chance. Tough to leave out.
3 MISQUED She's really had no chance in any recent race. There's no Monica in here, but it's still a good, strong bunch. Her game is one-way closing, so hoping for a touch of mayhem. One night soon, she's probably going to shock us.
4 CHARMING HILL Was a winning machine here for Bruce Clarke at the end of last year. Love the way he gave her some time to freshen up. She's in for the tag here, only reason why she's eligible. Had a nice qualifier too!
5 WHISKERSONKITTENS Lost that stretch slugfest with Cheyenne last week, but give credit for a top notch effort! She's clearly rounded back into nice form now and is the one to fear in here with any smooth trip. Watch out. Trainer: Not really a front runner. Likes coming off cover, so hoping for a cover trip. She will be tough.
6 OK HEAVENLY Keeps getting pounded at the windows and keeps disappointing. BUT, you have to respect the drop here, and I have a feeling we're going to see a touch more speed. Jimmy will want to be up close with her now.
7 BESTGIRLFRIENDEVER She's going pretty well right now. I still remember the big upset win for Eric A here a while back and she also can blast out if he wants. Don't be shocked if he takes a shot and sends. Will offer a price.
8 BYE BYE MICHELLE No wins yet this year, but she's turned in some good efforts on the half. Took her mark on a big track up at Vernon, so we know she can handle a bigger oval. Can she handle this post tonight? I say no.
9 NOT BEFORE EIGHT Was bet like the "international good thing" last week and I have no idea why. Started slowly and came up empty. I would imagine the price will be a little bigger now, and the post makes things a lot tougher.
10 Tenth Race Entries
Picks: 1-7-9-6
H Horse Comment
1 STARSABOVEALLERAGE Has a couple of starts under his belt now and this looks like the right spot to take a shot. Note that A Nap chose him over #10 and the rail will keep the gelding close enough. He often packs one potent punch.
2 GONEINAPUFFOFSMOKE Not much going on in this corner right now. Looks like a pass once again.
3 CAPER K COURT Doesn't win very often, but has been racing well of late. That was tough trip from post 10 last time. This post is easier and there are plenty of questions amongst the favorites. Might be worth using in this spot.
4 LUCKY MASS I can't say I like those breaks on the program, but I will remind everybody that Terry can still get it done! Shocked us with one last week, so let's see if this gelding is up to the task. I do have my doubts.
5 BWT TAJ Up from Rosecroft off a perfect trip win. So far, very few from that track have been a good fit here. Will have to go a lot faster here and I usually have to see it first.
6 MISTRESS VALENTINE Changed the tactics last time and raced a little bit better. Been getting bet hard lately, so I don't anticipate much of a price and she's yet to win this year. Seems overdue, but maybe not at short value?
7 TWO HIP DIP Never really got rolling last time, but this race has a different look to it. We know the Dip can fly late at times and this is the right kind of field for him. Don't be surprised if Brett has him in position to launch a rally.
8 BIG BILL BREEZE I liked him last week and he wasn't very good. Sometimes things go wrong and I understand that. Since he's right back in the box, I will expect a somewhat better effort. Needs to turn things around.
9 SWISS PLATINUM Takes the final drop to the bottom here and is due for something more. I do not like the post, but feel he'll go more forward with those two starts under his belt. Let's expect a better mile from him too!
10 ROSE RUN QUICKLEY Finally went a little more forward last week. That is what I was waiting for, but this is not the spot I'm ready to bet on yet. I hate post 10. Wasn't Nap's pick, but I expected that. Needs to get very lucky out here.
11 Eleventh Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 FLIGHT AGAIN Over from Yonkers and definitely in need of this class relief. Hasn't been good in any recent start over there, and I cannot predict complete turnarounds. That's what he would need, but against this field, it's possible!
2 VICTORYDAZE WILWIN Sports a real mixed bag of efforts lately, but there are plenty of other question marks in this bunch. He has shown us the ability to wake back up suddenly. This could be that kind of spot.
3 BUCKEYE IN CHARGE Exact same story as #2. I thought he would be greatly overbet with the driver change last week, but that didn't happen. His effort wasn't very good. I can't really expect all that much tonight.
4 ALONEINSPADES Raced a little bit better than most of these last time, so that's why we'll start him at 3-1. Not really sure he deserves to be favored, but somebody has to be the favorite! Let's see if we get some speed this time. Trainer: Would like to see him closer to the front.
5 MICHAEL'S VICTORY Rounded back into form nicely down at Freehold, but it's usually a brand new ballgame here on the mile track. Will be hoping for some sort of hot pace to set up his kick, and I don't see that in here.
6 HOWSABOUTAKISS Kind of the same boat as #5. At least this guy showed a touch more speed down at the Croft. Eric A likes to leave, so maybe he'll take a shot and send. That would give the horse a chance. A longshot chance.
7 MAKEOUTLIKEAPANDIT Already 0-10 this year, so that's a problem. I can't really tell you that he will do all that much better here, but he did win in fast time on big track at Vernon last year. A big question mark.
8 HIGH OCTANE N Retains longshot status, getting stuck with a bad post once again. Would be a big surprise.
9 ALWAYS A DIAMOND Clearly the key to the race, because Andy will have to send him out of there at least a little. This is second try at the bottom level, and he won't be winning from last. Let's see how far he goes.
