1 First Race Entries
Picks: 1-6-5-3
H Horse Comment
1 WARRAWEE NEEDY Why did he go so fast? Simple, he is a very fast horse that at times doesn’t want to be controlled. He’s still the best.
2 MR DENNIS There is no way around it, he just couldn’t get around the ½ at Yonkers. He’s better here. It’s hard to play him off last, though.
3 IN COMMANDO Sat along the pylons and just paced home even to earn a check. Hard to accept 1:49.1 isn’t good enough. Minor award.
4 YO CHEYENNE ROCKY This level is just too much for him right now. A very nice horse who will need softer to deliver his A-game.
5 BAKIN ON THE BEACH He raced very well last week, the problem is the top 2 are just that good. Appears third best on paper again.
6 ESCAPE THE NEWS Got the perfect trip and parlayed that to a win. It can happen again. Primetime showdown looms with ‘Needy.
2 Second Race Entries
Picks: 4-5-6-3
H Horse Comment
1 HARBOR POINT His last effort was one of his better tries this year, the problem is, he will need more than that to contend here.
2 NO LESS THAN MAGIC Comes off a scratch and an even try in this series. The top contenders here appear to be a little much for him.
3 DW’S NY YANK Just not quite up to the top 2 in here, and if Quick Deal trots, it will take a big jump up for ‘Yank to catch him again.
4 QUICK DEAL Scary fast trotter, but comes with the occasional miscue. If he trots, he is probably unbeatable. The price will be short.
5 MODERN FAMILY Clearly second best in here, but was no match for ‘Deal last time. If that foe makes a mistake, this is the likely winner.
6 VOLARE DE VIE Hats off to this gelding, despite just 1 win, he has hung tough in some very good fields this year. Would love to own him!
7 NOT AFRAID Parked to the quarter last week and it stung him as he was no match in the stretch. Needs absolute best now to contend.
3 Third Race Entries
Picks: 7-5-2-1
H Horse Comment
1 MONTREAL PHIL Many Lachance horses have been making one big late move to earn a share. This one included. Does the same here.
2 STAND BY CAM Did not race poorly at this level two starts back and earned a good win at Philly. Seems to fit nicely in this group.
3 ARSENAL Pretty much had no shot in that last mile even before the break. He can break from time to time though. Connections take play.
4 TOUCH AND GO Steps up off a nice win. The track was fast last Saturday, so that mile might not be quite as good as it looks on paper.
5 THE POKESTER Everybody’s “wise-guy” play last week off a troubled trip was completely flat. Can he rebound? Sure. Price will be better.
6 WESTERN TRADEMARK Claimed away from a tough barn and this is a considerable move up in class. I would view him as a longshot.
7 LIVE ON I like how he handled the move up and he caught a win machine last time too. Might be the one to beat in this spot. Top pick.
8 MASTER OF DESIRE Making his first start back off a 4 month layoff and off his recent qualifier, I would suggest that he needs a start.
4 Fourth Race Entries
Picks: 6-1-2-8
H Horse Comment
1 LONG LIVE ROCK Moves down the class ladder and he just might be faster that this group. No catch driver means more value here.
2 GRACIE’S BOY Hard to tell what kind of pace he had in the stretch last week. Needs to stay closer, but might be a sneaky player here.
3 FRESH DREAM Tetrick sticks here for Scotty D, but I think his other option was better. Recent form has been dull. Needs to improve.
4 STRIPE’N STAR He really should have been better last time. Has the same good post and in this field, I would expect a better effort.
5 DUTCH RICHMAN I guess DiNozzi got his win and he’s content! Turns the lines over to Macdonald here. Let’s see how they get along.
6 DJ LANCE I can see him starting to turn a corner, I think. Exits a pretty fast mile and I think this gelding is ready for a better effort.
7 BEWARE OF DARKNESS Neither of his last two starts give me a lot of confidence for this event. Needs to see some improvement.
8 CORKY BARAN You have to figure that one of these nights he will find a field that he will beat. For now, continue to use underneath.
9 TUFFOFTHETOUGHEST Off a three month layoff and exiting some softer races at Saratoga. Exits a good qualifier. Watching one.
10 FOX VALLEY LEO This is a move up in class and with the outside draw added to the mix, I think this is too much for him.
5 Fifth Race Entries
Picks: 5-2-1-4
H Horse Comment
1 WHAT’S THE STORY Toss out the try from post 10 and you can make a case that this horse should be included. Must time the move right!
2 OLD TIME HOCKEY Got bet off the board last time despite post 10 and never got into the race. Likely to take similar money again. Chalk.
3 WISHFORABEACHOUSE Shows a series of qualifiers and I do see some improvement in his races. That said, likely watching this start.
4 ALWAYS THERE Disappointed last time but his prior effort was a good one. In this field, I expect a return to that form. Prime contender.
5 TWINCREEKS JESSE Making his second start off the layoff and the benefit of Tetrick. Pair of angles to like. Sneaky player in here.
6 SCOFANMAN Still not showing the type of improvement that warrants consideration. Continue to tab for later on, but not yet.
7 DHARMA INITIATIVE He continues to improve and one of these nights he will breakthrough. One of several contenders in a tricky race.
8 HYDRUSKO Similar to ‘Scofanman, I just haven’t seen enough from him to entice me to play. Waiting for signs of improvement.
9 NICK FOTIU This barn can be sneaky with a first time starter every so-often. That said, his qualifiers tell me that he needs a start or two.
10 MAJOR BLUE COAT Not a bad qualifier off the bench, although I would have liked him to finish better. From post 10, I will wait a start.
6 Sixth Race Entries
Picks: 7-9-4-8
H Horse Comment
1 STAGECOACH HOLDUP Has shown a pair of good races here, but he catches a pretty salty field here. One of several contenders.
2 VEAL MARSALA Another contender, despite the move up in class. He is probably too sharp to ignore, but will need even more now.
3 ALEX BULLVILLE Stepping off a win and a quick mile. Like I said earlier, the track was fast that night. Not sure he will be as good here.
4 OSCAR OSCAR Miller showing more loyalty to Surick here, but this horse is a contender on the class drop. Cannot be ignored this time.
5 THAT’S JUSTICE Another on the drop in class, but his form has been flat and I think this is a tougher than typical B-2. Tricky read here.
6 GRAMS LEGACY Always a tricky horse. Loads of talent, but he is not always on his best behavior. Let’s watch a start back here first.
7 FOREVER JUST This horse is eligible to The Levy, so if he is to enter there, he will have to get very good, very quickly. A-game coming.
8 ON THE RADAR Just had too much to do last time, but he was flying at the end of the mile. If Callhan can keep him closer, lookout.
9 ESPRIT DE KAYJAY A I think this is a good spot for him and the odds board should reflect that. Andy gives him a vote of confidence, too.
10 IWANNARACE HANOVER Catches the worst of the draw in a very tough field without any early speed. Not a recipe I will endorse.
7 Seventh Race Entries
Picks: 7-2-6-4
H Horse Comment
1 HIGH NOON Steps up to a much tougher spot off a win. Catches a short field, but it is not short on quality. Will need absolute best.
2 OUTRAGEOUS ART He has handled any track or classification thrown at him lately. This will be that much tougher. Needs lifetime best.
3 STOLEN CAR No chance last week and he might be better with a start under his belt here. I can see him racing better. Underneath.
4 RIVER SHARK Tough trip last week, but his 1 for 9 mark this year is a bit disappointing. Grinder must dig deeper here to contend for win.
5 ONE MORE LAUGH Meadowlands Pace Winner from 2010 kicks off his 6YO campaign. Good qualifier but probably needs a start.
6 A J CORBELLI This horse has a ton of ability and it shows more often than not. Catches a good group here, but he is a contender.
7 VERSADO If he gets out sooner, he wins last week. His speed will send him to the lead and he will prove tough to catch as the favorite.
8 Eigth Race Entries
Picks: 6-4-8-5
H Horse Comment
1 TUG RIVER CLAUDE Off a sick scratch and some dull tries. Has not brought his Meadows form to the east coast. Watching this time.
2 BOBJACKS ANGLE A Was very good two starts back, but last time things went amiss. Tough to gauge off that last effort.
3 CASIMIR CAMOTION Form just has not been good this year and that win seems like a long time ago. Needs a form reversal.
4 YANKEE DEVIL He is heading to the lead and that has worked here in the past. This race is a little tougher, but the price should be right.
5 A PLACE IN HISTORY He is either sitting on a big race, or he is going to be disappointing. Campbell sticks and the post is ideal. Maybe.
6 FREDDY DAY HANOVER Aggressively driven from a wide draw and speed is not his best game. With the right setup, he could be tough.
7 LITTLE PRINCE Steps up off a win and he has speed if Gingras wants to use it. Clearly he will need to be faster, but it’s not impossible.
8 MEGA LIGHTNING Dropping down to the level of his last win. That said, he won’t be 14-1 in this field. Could be a drop and pop winner.
9 BLENDED WHISKEY Check layoff report below for trainer update. Ships up from Dover and might like the bigger track here.
10 THANKS FOR STOPPIN Raced pretty well on the move up in class last time. Post 10 may be tricky as Miller must create some speed.
9 Ninth Race Entries
Picks: 7-10-5-9
H Horse Comment
1 PEMBROKE DEWEY The wildcard kicks off this field. He won at this level at 19-1. This field came up tough, but he is not without a chance.
2 FRITZIE ROCKET Exits the same qualifier that produced Fantaddy’s big win. Still, off a long time and probably needs a start.
3 DR C’S Z TAM Like many of Lachance’s horses, he has been making one late move and earning checks. Expect the same here.
4 OUREA NOURRIR Tough trip last time and he probably deserves another chance. Tetrick did choose off though. Mixed feelings here.
5 GAMBLER’S TALE Continues to race well and handled the move up the class ladder quite well. Perfect post. Prime win candidate.
6 PRINCE SHARKA Just held on last time but now makes the move up in class. I think this will be considerably tougher. Not sold on repeat.
7 POWER OF A MOMENT I think he is the live play in this group. Making his third start back and I like the improvement he showed. Pick.
8 SOUTHER SPORT Made a break, but he was also 32-1 on the move up to this level last time. I will wait for a better effort or a class drop.
9 JOHNNY Z Raced well two-back, but his last effort was flat as a luke-warm favorite. Now, the price will be better. Worth including in plays.
10 UNION MAN HANOVER Tetrick’s choice of four in here, so that has to count for something. Big effort off the layoff last time. Player.
10 Tenth Race Entries
Picks: 4-6-10-8
H Horse Comment
1 BETTOR WIN The move back down the ladder might make all the difference here. Don’t love the pole though. Mixed feelings here.
2 DIGITAL Z TAM Relished the move down in class while out-racing his odds. That said, this race is tougher on paper. Still worth including.
3 BUCKEYE IN CHARGE The move up to the $20,000 level was too much and I fear this spot might be the same situation. Not sold.
4 COLD BATH Another class dropper in here. Showed speed last time, so he night be tighter for this. One of many contenders to consider.
5 ELUSIVE REWARD Getting a move down in class, but that said, it is hard to play him off his recent form. Needs a form reversal.
6 FANTADDY Secret was out on him last week. Bet off the board and jogged while exiting a tough qualifier. This will be tougher. Watch tote.
7 BULLET BOB Another on the move up coming off a win. My guess is bettors will prefer Fantaddy to this one. Needs best here.
8 AREZZO HANOVER It appears that he is starting to put this all together and he might be sitting on his best race yet. Much to like.
9 MARTIAL BLISS Connections speak for themselves and the tote board should be your guide here. I think we will see speed tonight.
10 RELENTLESS DREAMER Continues to race well and if Campbell wants, he can blast with this horse. Don’t dismiss based on the post!
11 Eleventh Race Entries
Picks: 7-2-1-3
H Horse Comment
1 MORGAN SHARK Raced well in a tough group last time. See how top two finishers did earlier (separate races). Expect speed here.
2 HEZA TRICK N That was a sneaky good qualifier and he is coming out of some good races down-under. Potential bomber play.
3 MUSSELSFRMBRUSSELS I really thought on the move down with the addition of Lasix, he would be better last time. Now, I’m unsure.
4 BOLERO ANDREW Coming off an injured scratch and hasn’t raced since 2/23. Catches a short, but good group. Tricky read here.
5 STATEMAN N The “other” Australian invader appears to exit better races. That 25.4 final quarter will attract attention. I’m watching one.
6 WESTERN TSUNAMI He should have been better than that last time with the move down in class. I think he has tailed off.
7 SCOTTY MACH N Steps up off a huge win in a very fast mile. Has the speed to blast from this draw. Could be the one to beat again.
12 Twelfth Race Entries
Picks: 1-8-3-9
H Horse Comment
1 HUMILITY The presence of I Do Hanover likely helps his price. Tetrick will need to hustle out of here, but he might be best in this field.
2 ARC DE TRIUMPH Has now made breaks in two of three starts and that is a concern. Too many other interesting options in this group.
3 DON’T YA KNOW Miller’s choice raced well off the layoff and he is a candidate for even better this time. Things to like here for sure.
4 ROCKAHOLIC Good looking qualifier and it is impossible to ignore a horse off a sharp qualifier from this barn. Probably very tough.
5 DIAL A WIN This is a move down the ladder, but his recent form isn’t very appealing. I might toss him on the bottom of supers at a price.
6 STALLONE BLUE CHIP The way he drifts in the stretch makes it very hard to play him on top. Continue to use him accordingly.
7 SEEK THE DRAGON Very nice effort last time, yet Miller still opted off. I wouldn’t be shocked with a solid effort in this field. Maybe.
8 LONG FIGHT HANOVER Blew up the board for Di Nozzi. Now Marcus will take the lines. Steps up, but he has plenty of ability.
9 I DO HANOVER Hard to imagine him looking any better last week. Andy will have to navigate the wide draw, but he is plenty capable.
13 Thirteenth Race Entries
Picks: 8-9-2-10
H Horse Comment
1 PALM’S BEACH Caught a shuffle last time and from this post again, I am concerned he might suffer the same fate. Needs a trip.
2 DANA’S SHARP SMART Tetrick lands here over three others, so don’t take that lightly. Might be better with a start here under his belt.
3 ANDY BARAN Tough trip last time and it didn’t work. He is a candidate to improve at a price if he can work out a better trip.
4 DOOMSDAY HANOVER Moves down in class, but is not Tetrick’s choice. Must stay closer, which Callahan should be able to do.
5 ST PETE STAR Off a scratch in a race he was supposed to add Lasix. He adds it tonight instead, but I will be watching this start.
6 PLAYERS BALL Another off a scratch and this an extended break. His effort on 2/21 was not bad. Not sure he can repeat that effort.
7 IN MINT CONDITION Aggressive move last time but he couldn’t last. I think the move out of the claimer is tougher. Needs even more.
8 CYCLONE ARTIST Technically, this is a move up, although I could argue the winner of that last race would be a big favorite here.
9 KISS MY ART Nice mile here and this gelding has the speed to overcome the draw. Should build off that mile and looms a contender.
10 SIR MELO’S Z TAM Another Lachance trainee that was flying through the wire. Likely coming from last. Using underneath again.
