Meadowlands Turf Selections – Friday, October 12, 2012

Race 1

5-Cocodimama – Derek Ryan claim in late July took a few starts to get going, just missed at a mile two starts back, then hit the ticket with a five-wide rally

8-Certain Appeal – consistent closer rallied for the runner-up spot again in his second try off the bench at a lesser tag, needs a strong speed target to finish it off here

4-Raging Lion – steady & improved this past summer at Monmouth, 3YO looms as a stalking threat & will look to make serious surge

3-Restructuring Plan – a 3YO with some upside, broke his maiden fresh off the Terri Pompay acquisition, got away slowly fresh off the bench, back on turf & stretching out

Race 2

3-Celtic Blessing – did alright making some wide, belated moves in both turf starts, badly beaten favorite last out was bumped at the start

10-Kisses Required – understandably took money in her second start, had the lead & ducked into the rail, trying to rebound from an outside post for Monmouth’s leading trainer Jane Cibelli

6-Ana’s Affair – offered an improved rally with an inside trip at Monmouth, looking for more at a price here

1-Porvoo – came up second best with a three-wide bid when he was claimed by Kevin Nichol, stretches out & tries turf

Race 3

3-USMC Semper Fi – chased first level Allowance foes at Monmouth & needed a bit more, just missed with a game, stalking trying back on June 16

9-Golden Weekend – pretty popular item at the claim box, fresh off a much needed race at Penn National after working a bullet there & owns a win here

7-Bless The Soldier – flashed solid speed off the claim before the recent break, trying turf & faces a field riddled with question marks

2-Quiescent Hit – didn’t earn Beyer in his last two, returns from a five-and-a-half month layoff at a greatly reduced price for Bruce Levine with some speed on view

Race 4

6-Fufty Too – pretty consistent shipper shortens up off a decent third on the turf at Canterbury Park, figures to be forwardly placed

9-Car Thief – was almost a stakes winner at Penn National with a game effort from post 10 & tried a Grade 3 event at Parx

7-Luckysdream – set the pace, fought off pressure & drew clear of Scallion two starts back, his lone turf try was okay

4-Sydney Road – was forcing the issue against Allowance foes at Belmont, shortens up debuting for trainer Rudy Rodriquez

Race 5

7-Richiefromshoprite – sprinted consistently well at Monmouth this summer, off a solid third in the NJ Breeders Handicap, stretching out, worth a swing

1-Alke John – very steady customer shortens, twice beaten favorite shortens up a sixteenth for Ed Broome & looms as a short price

4-Osceola Prince – pulled off the class drop n pop last out for leading trainer Jane Cibelli, part of the speed equation again

8-Dear John – maximized his three starts this season with a rousing score & was nosed out at this distance, fresh off the bench for Greg Sacco

Race 6

2-Mustang Island – set the pace on a yielding course at Penn National, lands in a softer spot here, cutting back & reunited with Pedro Cotto, Jr.

4-No Attraction – speedball from Maryland on a roll since the switch to Dale Capuano, could be the one to catch

7-Code Purple – fresh claim by Juan Serey has thrived in the slop & broke his maiden on turf, could present some value

8-Johnny Two By Four – beaten heavy favorite off a game speed try, claimed by Yvon Belsoeur & tries the turf again
